  January 31-February 4 Share Your Stories Night-Update Our Brown School  “Share Your Stories Night”that was scheduled for Tuesday, January 25th has been postponed. The date has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 26.  For more information please see Mrs. Bawks’ Brown School Family Blog.   4th Grade Swimming *Please read the following note from our PE teachers. The permission slip mentioned in the letter will be sent home this week. Dear Parent or Guardian, Your child will soon be participating in our third grade water safety and swimming program (This program is traditionally held for 3rd graders, however, this program was suspended last year).  Classes will be held at the St. Joseph High School pool.  Students are transported to the pool on St. Joseph School buses, with teachers accompanying the classes.     January 17-21 NWEA Testing Continues NWEA testing continues this week. We will take the ELA portion of the test on Tuesday January 18. Brown School Variety Show Information on the Brown School Variety Show was sent home last week.  If your child is interested in participating, please make sure the permission slip form is filled out and returned to the office no later than Monday, January 24.   News From the MUSIC room Dear 4th grade Brown families, Just a reminder: the 4th grade Musical is on January 19th, 7:00 pm at the HS auditorium .  Our Program Theme this year is “We are Brown School,  We are America” The students can wear Patriotic colors (Red, White, and Blue) for the show.  Students will follow the signs and report to the HS Choir room no earlier than 6:45. No new date has been announced yet.   NWEA Testing We will begin NWEA testing this week.  We will take the math portion of the test on Wednesday, January 12.   January 3-7 Thank you We enjoyed a wonderful Winter Celebration on Friday.  Thank you to all of our volunteers who made it possible. Dressing for the Weather As winter approaches, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately.  All students are expected to be outside at all 3 recesses and often times during P.E.  Once the snow begins, students will not be allowed to play beyond the blacktop without boots and snow pants. If your child is in need of a winter coat or any other winter apparel, please let me know. Please talk to your students about their responsibility in wearing what you send/expect them to wear during recesses. Brown School is focused on teaching personal responsibility/natural consequences for student choices. For instance, if their pants get wet going down the slide when they chose not to wear their snow pants, they will be sitting in wet pants for the day. We will not call home for dry clothing.
