Student Council

If your child is interested in serving as a member of the student council, applications must be filled out and returned to Mrs. Lokey (student council leader) no later than Thursday, October 28, 2021.  *Please note students will be required to write and give a speech and not all students will be elected to the council.



Computer Charging

Many students have been coming to school with a computer that is not charged.  Please remind your student that Chromebooks must be charged at home before coming to school.


Library Day

Please note that Fridays are library days for our class. Thank you for your help in reminding your student to return books on time.


Costume Celebration

We will celebrate Fall with a Celebration on Friday, October 29, 2021.

Our classroom celebration will take place from 12:30-1:45 p.m. 

**Please note only parents or guardians who have signed up to help will be allowed to attend.


 We will have a parade outside around the track at 3:15.

**If you were unable to sign up for the indoor celebration but would still like to attend the parade on the track you may.

Costumes can be worn all day (no gore or weapons). We ask that anything that may be distracting to the school environment be saved for home celebrations.

Students must wear masks along with their costume (not costume masks alone).

What we are learning this week:

Math:  We will continue our study of fractions.

ELA: We will focus on identifying and discussing both the problem and the solution in informational text.

Writing:  We will continue developing our narrative.

Science:  We will continue our unit on the study of sound.

Social Studies:  We will continue our unit on geography of the United States.

P2: We will study creativity.  Creativity is defined as “you come up with new and original ways to think about and do things.”

  March 7 - 11 Change in Swimming Dates Thank you all so much for returning the swimming permission forms so quickly! If you have not yet returned your child’s form, please do so as soon as possible. There has been a slight change in the dates for swimming due to maintenance happening at the high school swimming pool. The NEW dates for swimming will be: May 4, May 18, May 27 and June 1. School Store The Brown Elementary School Store is back! The School Store will be open this Friday March 11 during the school day. There will be a variety of fun school supplies that the students can buy. If your child is planning to shop, please only send them in with up to $2.00 to spend as that is the spending limit at the School Store.   Change in Swimming Dates Thank you all so much for returning the swimming permission forms so quickly! If you have not yet returned your child’s form, please do so as soon as possible. There has been a slight change in the dates for swimming due to maintenance happening at the high school swimming pool. The NEW dates for swimming will be: May 4, May 18, May 27 and June 1. Homework Reminder   Homework each week consists of reading 20+ minutes at home (this can be a library book, magazine, newspaper, online book, etc) and practicing multiplication and division facts 1 through 12.
